Screens
We print jobs with a screen count from 34 to 60. The screen rotation and screen count should not be defined on either the entire label or elements thereof. We choose the optimum based on e.g. the print material.
Any screen definition is carried out during output, which is why we require information about the desired screen count. Allow for relief printing dot spread and the fact that the label "breaks" below 4-5 % screens.
Reproduction/Layout
What should you be considering when layouting your label?
Many things if you want to end up with a good result without us having to spend too much time checking your job. There are a number of ground rules that you should always adhere to (if you have not specifically done so, please clearly inform us of this).
Colours
The job should be cleaned of all other colours except those that are part of the job.
You may check this from the menu item colour separation in your printer menu. Do not mix multiple colour systems.
When using 1, 2 or 3 separate colours only, Pantone colours may be advantageous to use. In the case of 4 or more colours, it will be an advantage to use the CMYK colour system as most colours may be produced from the four colours Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black. (Never use RGB images in your job.
These must first be converted into CMYK, monochrome or Duotone).
Overlap and Overprint
The individual colours must overlap correctly in order to obtain precise registration when printing your labels.
The overlap must be at least 0,3 mm.
The overprint functionality should be used correctly on the individual element. If you are in doubt as to when this functionality should be used, please let us know.
This is important because it is dependent upon which colour is printed on top of which colour (overprint must always be used in case of black being printed on top of other colours).
Rules / Illustrations
Rules must not be defined too thinly - the individual rules or points must be no less than 0.25 mm (0.75 points).
Exactly 1 mm print should exceed the label dimension on all sides. If the label dimension is tight, there is a risk of white label edges. The adjacent label might be visible if more than 1 mm exceeds the edges.
The illustration should not have rounded corners to visibly imitate a label. All drawings of quadrangular labels must have right-angled corners.
If an illustration is vectorised, make sure that Postscript's possible handling of the number of vectors has been taken into consideration.
Proof / PDF file
We highly recommend enclosing a print from a PostScript printer (or an ordinary laser printer).
A quick comparison of the proof and the block/first print will immediately reveal any discrepancies. We are thus able to respond and stop the printing, thereby saving valuable time and material. If the job consists of several colours, a print of each colour should be enclosed.
A colour print may also be enclosed, but this is not a necessity.
